Adam Riley: Recruitment Consultant for Marketing, AI, Tech and Digital

Q: What led you to join Heritage PS Talent Solutions?

A: Having spent the past 6 years within the same company, I felt it was time for a change. The reason I decided to join Heritage PS Talent Solutions is they were a business I felt shared my desire of constantly wanting to learn and develop. I really feel like I have joined a fantastic business but a business that still has so much potential to grow to be part of that is something that really excites me.

Q: What do you think are the most important qualities for a successful recruiter to possess?

A: A great sense of humour! Recruitment is full of ups and downs. You can feel almost every emotion during one day in Recruitment so being able to have a laugh really does help. I would also say perseverance, not every candidate will get the job, not every call will result in a booking or a meeting but if you persevere, work hard and trust yourself and your colleagues it is an extremely rewarding industry to be a part of.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in the recruitment industry?

A: Keep going! I know it’s cliché but Rome was not built in a day. Listen to your Manager and your more experienced colleagues and ask questions, lots of questions! If they have a client meeting, ask if you could join them. If they are interviewing a candidate as if you can sit in and take notes. Any training on offer? Take it! If you do this I believe you will be giving yourself the best possible chance of success.

Q: How do you build and maintain strong relationships with clients and candidates over time?

A: Honesty! If you are honest with your clients and candidates, even when you may make a mistake, your clients and candidates know they can trust you. They know they can trust you with that business critical role they need filling or they trust you that you will give them possible advice about whether or not the role is right for them.

Q: What are some hobbies or interests you have outside of work that help you to stay balanced and energised?

A: Out of work I enjoy spending time with my family, I have a 5 year old daughter. I also enjoy going to the gym and hiking with my dog (Loki) and I am also a season ticket holder at Leicester City.

Tom Hartree: Multi-Discipline Specialist | Senior Recruitment Consultant

A: I chose to join Heritage PS because of its exceptional workplace setup. The company stands out for its strong support for staff, fostering a friendly atmosphere, and promoting innovative thinking. From mentorship programs to open communication channels, Heritage PS prioritises employee growth and well-being. The welcoming culture encourages collaboration and teamwork, making every day enjoyable.

Q: What do you think are the most important qualities for a successful recruiter to possess?

A: In my view, the qualities that are most crucial for a recruiter to possess is discipline, resilience, and a great sense of humour. These qualities, when combined, form success in the dynamic and often unpredictable world of recruitment.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in the recruitment industry?

A: The advice I would give to someone who is just starting out in recruitment is to be prepared to work hard but also don’t give up, the highs are great but the lows can be hard. I think it is important to push on and be successful by not giving up.

Q: How do you build and maintain strong relationships with clients and candidates over time?

A: To build and maintain strong relationships with candidates and clients, I treat them with respect and always be happy to help. I will go out of my way to come up with solutions to their problems and most of all talk to them about them.

Q: What are some hobbies or interests you have outside of work that help you to stay balanced and energised?

A: Outside of work, I am usually riding my Harley Davidson, cooking on my smoker, and getting out and about with my dog.
